ICFiles — Technical Details
Specifications, limits and compliance for the secure file transfer system. Written for anyone evaluating it against a firm’s obligations.
Where it runs
ICFiles is hosted in a phoenixNAP data centre holding SOC 2 Type II, SSAE-18 Type II and HIPAA attestations. Compliance reports are available on request under NDA.
The service went live in 2005 and has been in continuous operation since. Service2Client itself has been building for accounting firms since 1998.
Encryption and access
- Files encrypted at rest with 256-bit AES
- DigiCert SSL supporting 4096-bit SHA2 in transit
- Account passwords use one-way encryption — we cannot read them, and cannot recover one for you
- Filename obfuscation on stored objects
- User and administrator permission levels
- Audit trails covering past and present documents
- No free or anonymous access — every user is identified and verified

Storage can be upgraded to the next tier at any time to avoid overage charges. Your available storage is visible inside your account.
ICFiles Express
A Windows desktop application that works with any software able to print to PDF. Copy or print a document to a watched folder and it is delivered. This is the route for files above the 4 GB web limit.
eSignatures
Delivered through a partnership with OneSpan, directly inside ICFiles. Any PDF or Word document can be sent for signature, and the signer can complete it from a mobile device anywhere. No separate subscription, no second system.
What it is not for
ICFiles is a transfer and sharing system, not a backup service. It is not designed to be a primary backup of your firm’s data and should not be relied on as one.
